"Positioned for Discovery: How the Unique Geography, History, and Inclination Towards Collective Curiosity Placed Newfoundland and Labrador on a Continuum of Discoveries"
Dennis Flynn is a freelance writer/photographer and a storyteller from Colliers Conception Bay, Newfoundland Labrador, Canada. He is the author of two books and over 325 published articles.
His photographs and award-winning articles have appeared in various books, magazines, newspapers, websites, and other publications provincially, nationally, and internationally. His images have been selected for numerous art shows, exhibitions, museum displays, and other cultural tourism displays.
Dennis has hosted at the St. John's Storytelling Circles and the annual Festival and participated in the 2024 Road Show Edition. He has also told stories for the "Our Unsung Heroes: World War I Stories from Newfoundland and Labrador" podcast and the "Home Out of It: Newfoundland Decameron Podcast" and told stories for the "What's in a Name" series of provincial tourism television commercials.
Dennis has donated many images he took documenting important moments in local history and folklore to the archives at the Cupids Legacy Centre and similar groups around the province for future researchers and storytellers to use and enjoy.
Outside of storytelling Dennis is a former CPU Canadian National Bench Press Champion in the sport of powerlifting, an avid hiker, kayaker, cyclist and a slow, but enthusiastic runner with over 330 races run at distances from 5 kilometres to 50-kilometre ultramarathons.
Dennis is extremely grateful to all who generously assist his photography and writing projects in any way. He is always interested in hearing from anyone with good story to share or a suggestion for a photograph they'd like to see captured.
